Yoga with Suzanne
Suzanne's first priority is to help her students explore tools to release tension, grow strong to the core, and become well-aligned in body, mind, and spirit. Rather than 'pretzeling' our body into classical forms (asanas) and risking injury, we approach these poses using balanced and anatomically healthy joint alignment and muscle activation. This way, we can strengthen our own individual weak areas and open tight spots that are often caused by years of one-sided workouts and 'office-and-iphone asana'.
Suzanne incorporates cutting-edge techniques from physiotherapy and movement science to 'unlock' the powers of traditional asana, pranayama and meditation. Her instruction is upbeat and humorous, challenging and reflective, tapping into timeless universal truths as we explore asanas, pranayama, and meditation on the mat.
Suzanne is a seasoned European-American hatha and vinyasa yoga instructor (E-RYT 500, Anusara Certified) and teacher trainer (YACEP continuing education provider), known for her clear, empowering Iyengar-based alignment instruction.
Suzanne’s yoga journey began over a decade ago as a stressed-out young mother and museum professional in a German Ashtanga studio. There, she found the gracefulness she was missing from her years of dancing ballet; yet what intrigued her most was the peace she experienced in the practice. In California, Suzanne encountered Anusara yoga, whose alignment-based and heart-centered method helped her overcome chronic pain and reframe her approach to life’s ups and downs.
Suzanne completed her 200 hour (RYT) Yoga Teacher Training in 2012, and her 300 (RYT) Advanced Training with Noah Maze in 2017. She obtained her Anusara Certification under the new teacher-led Anusara School in 2018, and is registered at the experienced 500 hour level with Yoga Alliance.
When she is not on the mat, Suzanne lovse spending time in nature with her husband, her two daughters, and Louie the Goldendoodle.
